Body found in Tenerife belongs to 19-year-old who went missing a month ago

A body found on Monday by Civil Guard teams in Tenerife belongs to Jay Slatter, a young British man who went missing in the area a month ago.

In accordance with Sky NewsAs quoted by a Tenerife court spokesman, fingerprints examined during the autopsy confirmed that the body belonged to a 19-year-old boy. Marks on the body indicated that the young man died after falling from a cliff in Masca.

Jay went missing on June 17 after breaking his leg in an area in the north of the island where he was on holiday with friends. At the time, since he was alone and his mobile phone had no battery, he was never found again. He even called a friend to tell her that he was lost in the mountains and that he only had 1% battery.

LBT Global, a charity that supports families of missing people and is working with Jay’s family, said the body was found along with the 19-year-old’s belongings and clothes and was known to be near the last known location of your phone.

After he was reported missing, Jay’s friend set up a GoFundMe to support the search, raising over £54,000 (around €64,000).
