Falesia Beach in Albufeira Closed for Swimming

The Falésia Asoteas beach in the municipality of Albufeira, Faro district, was closed to swimming this Wednesday after water quality tests revealed microbiological values above reference parameters, the National Maritime Administration (AMN) announced.

In a statement, the ANM explained that water quality tests carried out by the Portuguese Environmental Protection Agency (APA) revealed “microbiological values above reference values, making the water unsuitable for bathing.”

“After receiving information from the APA recommending against swimming at Falésia Asotejas beach, the regional health department gave instructions to raise a red flag and post notices at the access points to the beach prohibiting bathing,” he also says.

This ban will remain in effect until new water quality tests show that microbiological indicators are within control parameters, ANM added.
