Workers at the Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP) will go on a 26-hour strike from midnight on Monday, called by the STRUN union, but the transport company will guarantee some minimum services.
The strike will begin at 00:00 Monday and last until 02:00 Tuesday. Services are expected to resume as normal on Tuesday morning.
During the strike, some minimum services are guaranteed, covering day and night services as well as the entire network at dawn, STCP said on Friday.
During the daytime (from 6:00 to 21:00) lines 200, 201, 204, 205, 207, 208, 305, 500, 502, 600, 602, 700, 701, 702, 704, 801, 901/906, 903 and 907, and at night lines 200, 204, 205, 305, 502, 600, 602, 700, 701, 702, 801, 901/906, 903 and 907.
In the morning service, all flights will be operated on lines 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M, 5M, 7M, 8M, 9M, 10M, 11M, 12M and 13M.
On July 8, the coordinator of the STCP workers’ committee, João Paulo Silva, confirmed the strike called by the Northern Urban Road Transport Union (STRUN), considering that the management had not responded in a timely manner to the proposal to revise wages by at least 8%.
João Paulo Silva explained that workers consider the salary updates carried out by STCP management to be insufficient – 2% in January and 4.7% in April.
Around 400 employees met in plenary to discuss the 2024 base pay table update, changes to the System of Professional Evaluation (SEP) and compliance with the Company Agreement.
The workers also demand that changes to the SEP be made “in the name of the functionality of the system, without worsening the evaluation parameters or calling into question existing automatisms.”
They also demand “full compliance” with company agreements “without changes in interpretation, namely the excuse for absence, one agent and assistance in case of illness.”
STCP management stressed that “in May last year it had reached its commitments for the current year, with four out of five unions representing its workers.”
“These four unions represent the majority of the company’s employees. The only union that did not sign this commitment was STRUN,” he added.
