A strike by CP-Comboios de Portugal workers called by several unions on Wednesday was suspended after an agreement in principle was reached on wage increases and career regulation, a union source said on Tuesday.
“Under the terms of the agreement, from August 1, 2024, all salary indicators are updated by an additional 1.5%, and the cost of food increases to 9.20 euros,” says a statement published by the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fektrans).
The unions, which called a strike on Monday and planned another day of strike action on Wednesday, said in a joint statement that the agreement was intended to ensure that “new occupational categories resulting from the merger of existing categories have voluntary access and that they remain the same, with a guarantee of career progression and the same functions.”
