Sanchez asks judge to issue written testimony in woman’s case

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said he was willing to testify in a judicial investigation into his wife, but asked to do so in writing in a message to the judge overseeing the case revealed Wednesday.

Pedro Sanchez was called to testify as a witness on Monday morning at the Moncloa Palace, the headquarters of the Spanish government’s president, the place where the judge presiding over the case raised suspicions of influence peddling and corruption.

In the famous document, Sanchez expresses his “willingness, as could not be otherwise”, to cooperate with justice “always within the framework of strict observance of the Spanish Constitution and the law” and adds that in this context his testimony must be given in writing and not in person, as determined by the judge.
