Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo acquired 30% of the capital of the Spanish subsidiary Vista Alegre on July 12, the group said in a statement released on Wednesday.
“As announced with the acquisition of 10% of the shares of VAA – Vista Alegre Atlantis SGPS, SA, Cristiano Ronaldo completed on July 12, through CR7, SA, the acquisition of 30% of the capital of VA Vista Alegre España, SA,” the same note reads.
The acquisition of capital by the footballer’s subsidiary VAA “will have a clear impact on the promotion of the Vista Alegre and Bordallo Pinheiro brands in Spain,” the group said.
Vista Alegre recalled that “it currently has its own stores in prime locations in Madrid and Barcelona, and also maintains commercial premises in the prestigious El Corte Inglés chain throughout Spain.”
Cristiano Ronaldo bought 10% of Vista Alegre Atlantis in June and agreed to buy 30% of Vista Alegre Spain at the time, according to a statement to the market.
At the same time, the captain of the Portuguese football team and Vista Alegre announced the creation of a company “in equal parts” in the Middle East and Asia with the aim of promoting the Vista Alegre and Bordallo Pinheiro brands in these markets.
In a note published this Wednesday, Fernando Campos Núñez, founder and shareholder of Grupo Visabeira, owner of Vista Alegre, stated that “the entry of Cristiano Ronaldo into the capital of VA Vista Alegre España, SA, has a fantastic impact on Spanish society and will strengthen the brand’s activity in a country that already represents the third most important market in terms of foreign markets.”
For Cristiano Ronaldo, “the opportunity to contribute to the development of Vista Alegre and Bordallo Pinheiro in Spain is another step towards affirming the globalization of the brands.”
The Vista Alegre Group, which produces porcelain, earthenware and ceramics, had total sales of 129.6 million euros in 2023. The foreign market accounts for around 70% of the Group’s turnover, with Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the United States and Brazil standing out.
