At least four arrested in Barreiro drug trafficking mega operation

The PSP detained four people aged 23 to 51 and seized 1,478 doses of various drugs in an anti-drug operation carried out this Wednesday in Barreiro, Setúbal district.

Three men aged 23 to 51 and a 23-year-old woman, all suspected of being involved in small-scale direct-to-consumer sales in the Palmeiras neighborhood, in the city of Barreiro, were told Luce by PSP Barreiro commander Reinaldo Canada.

While the operation was taking place, PSP announced in a statement early in the morning that four people had been arrested, a number confirmed in the now released balance sheet.

“This operation was the culmination of an investigation launched last year that resulted in the arrest of these four people suspected of being involved in drug trafficking, namely heroin trafficking, which has a significant impact on society,” he said.

According to Reinaldo Canada, the police operation, which began at 5:00 a.m., involved members of the Criminal Investigation Department and other areas of PSP Barreiro, who relied on the reinforcement of several rapid reaction teams from the Setúbal district command and operational assets. , special police unit.

According to the PSP District Command of Setúbal, which already said this Wednesday morning that the operation was ongoing, five house search warrants and five search warrants outside the residence issued by the judiciary have been executed.

PSP Barreiro seized 1,346 doses of heroin, 105 doses of cocaine and 27 doses of hashish, as well as an amount of 2,500 euros in cash, a car, three precision scales, two mobile phones and various materials used in cutting and separating drugs. .

The PSP also mentions that the four detainees will be present on Thursday for the first judicial interrogation regarding the possible use of coercive measures.
