According to a flash estimate published Wednesday by Eurostat, the annual inflation rate in the euro area stood at 2.6% in July, up from 2.5% in June but down from 5.3% in the same month.
Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, services are expected to have the highest annual rate in July (4.0%, up from 4.1% in June), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (2.3%, up from 2.4% in June), energy (1.3%, up from 0.2% in June) and non-energy industrial output (0.8%, up from 0.7% in June).
The European Statistical Office’s estimate also points to core inflation (excluding energy and unprocessed food) at 2.8%, stable compared to June and below 3.3% in July 2023.
