A “wonderful” child born under rubble who lost his entire family in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Aleppo, Syria, has been subjected to three kidnapping attempts in the past 48 hours, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday.

The latest abduction attempt was made by gunmen on Monday, when they entered the Cihan Hospital, where a child is hospitalized, in the city of Afrin and attacked the medical staff with the intent to take the child by force.
The observatory said the attackers belonged to Sultan Murad’s Turkish militia brigade that operates in the area, adding that they intended to hand over Aya to people connected to the Syrian government “in exchange for very large sums of money.”
Aya has been under close surveillance since her birth, with people from all over the world offering to help her, with others falsely claiming to be related to the baby, leading to police surveillance at the scene, a medical source said.
Aya’s mother died after giving birth following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, as did her father and four siblings.
Aya could leave the hospital on Tuesday or Wednesday, according to her great-uncle Saleh al-Badran, who said the baby was intended to be raised by a paternal aunt who recently gave birth and survived the earthquake.
