ASAE has seized more than 128,000 counterfeit goods worth 887,000 euros in an anti-counterfeiting operation via social media, it was announced on Saturday.
During the inspection operation “Artemis”, carried out by the Superintendence of Food and Economic Security (ASAE) through the National Unit of Information and Criminal Investigation, “internal, external and digital search warrants were carried out, investigating the illegal sale or concealment of counterfeit products through social networks in the Porto region and in Barcelos,” ASAE said in a statement.
“As a result of the action aimed at a store with reserved access and a warehouse where goods with serious suspicions of counterfeit origin were displayed and sold, as well as their packaging for shipment, a corresponding criminal case was opened on the fact of illegal sale or concealment of counterfeit products and imitation or illegal use of brands,” he emphasizes.
