A 40-year-old man was stabbed Sunday in the bathroom of a cafe on the banks of the Viana do Castelo river. He was taken to hospital and the Judicial Police was called to investigate the crime, the PSP reported.
Speaking to Lusa, a source from the PSP Viana do Castelo regional command said the victim, who was stabbed in the abdomen, is in stable condition at the Santa Lucia hospital.
The stabbing took place at around 6:20 a.m. on Avenida do Campo do Castelo, at the Cantinho do Pescador café.
The victim, who has a residence permit in Portugal, was found in the bathroom of the establishment.
According to PSP, “the attacker or attackers are currently unknown and have fled.”
“There are CCTV images at the scene and the images have been preserved. The scene was properly sealed to preserve evidence and the Braga Judicial Police were called and went to the scene,” the PSP source said.
