The Southern Directorate of the Judicial Police is investigating a complaint of rape filed by an Irish tourist aged around 50 at a PNP post in Albufeira.
According to CMThe woman formally filed a complaint early Monday morning, around 1am, where she told the military that she had been raped by two men on the street in an Algarve town. The victim was an Irish tourist who was going to be on holiday in the Algarve. After all the legal procedures had been carried out, she was taken to hospital for tests confirming the violation. The GNR took over the case but referred it to the Judicial Police, which took over the investigation.
In addition to the results of biological tests, authorities will check for witnesses who corroborate the version given by the victim, as well as for CCTV images that will help identify the suspects. According to CMAt the time of writing this edition, the alleged authors have not yet been identified.
