Cryptocurrency scam involves soccer stars and more. At least 156 injured in Portugal

Former footballers Luis Figo, Casillas and Ronaldinho Gaucho, as well as several other football stars and Hollywood stars such as Steven Seagal, have been linked to a cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme that has harmed three million people worldwide. In Portugal, there are at least 156 victims, according to a lawyer representing the victims, but none have filed a complaint with the police or the judiciary.

At stake is OmegaPro, which promised a 300% return on the initial investment in 16 months. According to the newspaper Público, the company claimed to be operating in the foreign exchange market, but investors had to transfer money in cryptocurrencies. While the first ones still had some return, thousands were left with nothing, having given away all the money they had. Luís Figo was hired by the company to popularize the scheme and participate in its events.
