Rare items from the world of celebrities, including Elvis Presley’s costumes and jewellery, Marilyn Monroe’s clothes and Eric Clapton’s guitar, will be auctioned on Saturday in Beverly Hills, California, US.
GWS’s Hollywood & Music Artefacts auction offers collectors 329 lots that once belonged to famous people including Michael and Janet Jackson, Andy Warhol, Elizabeth Taylor and Jimi Hendrix.
“This is an auction that features very powerful works in the sense that they have a strong emotional connection with the public,” explains auctioneer Brigitte Kruse. “There is an element of tragedy here, as many of these stars have left us too early,” he added.
The most expensive item on the auctioneer’s website is an Elvis Presley suit, which is up for auction for just over €460,000. A pair of glasses that belonged to singer John Lennon is worth €36,000, and a pearl necklace that once belonged to Melanie Griffith is worth €4,000.
