The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the Madeira archipelago under yellow alert this Wednesday due to high maximum temperatures continuing until late Friday evening.
The IPMA weather warning is in effect from Wednesday morning until 18:00 Friday and applies to all areas of the archipelago – the northern and southern coasts and mountainous areas of Madeira Island, as well as Porto Santo Island.
A yellow warning is the least severe of the three and is issued whenever there is a risk to certain activities due to weather conditions.
The maximum temperature forecast for this Wednesday on the island of Madeira is 29 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is 23 degrees. In the case of Porto Santo, these values vary between 28 and 22 degrees, respectively.
Sea water has a temperature of 23 to 25 degrees.
