Four people were injured on Tuesday, two of them seriously, in a collision between two cars on Estrada Nacional (EN) 120 in Roguil, in Aljezur, Faro district, a Civil Protection source said.
According to the Regional Directorate of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of the Algarve, the accident occurred at 1:46 p.m., causing the cessation of traffic on the road, which has since been restored, in the Feiteirinha area, in the parish of Rogil, in Aljezur.
According to the same source, two women, aged 32 and 59, were seriously injured and were taken by helicopter from the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) to the Faro department of the University Hospital of the Algarve (CHUA).
The cause of the collision between the two vehicles is “unknown and under investigation” by the National Accident Criminal Investigation Department (NICAV) of the State Police, he said.
A total of 26 members of the Aljezur Volunteer Fire Service, INEM and GNR, supported by nine vehicles and a helicopter, took part in the relief and assistance operations.
