The Islamic State extremist group carried out a total of 384 attacks in Mozambique in 2021, killing 1,127 civilians, Mozambican military forces and combatants, according to a US State Department report released Tuesday.
According to the U.S. Counterterrorism Department of Diplomacy 2021 Global Terrorism Report, the year was marked by the Islamic State takeover of Palma, the capital of Cabo Delgado province in the north of the country, in Mozambique.
