A Brazilian suspected of cannibalism in the Netherlands was detained by the SEF at the Lisbon airport on Monday evening, according to SABADO and additional data collected cm.
Begolean Fernandes, 26, is suspected of murder on the Vegasstraat in the north of Amsterdam on Sunday evening and fled to Portugal shortly after, allegedly with human flesh in his luggage.
According to an official SEF source, the suspect landed on a flight from Amsterdam and intended to board a flight to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, but presented an Italian identity document that aroused suspicion and later turned out to be fake. When the authorities established the man’s true identity, they discovered that the Dutch authorities had issued a warrant for his arrest the day before. He was immediately arrested and will be present at the Court of Appeal for extradition purposes.
Documents, a bandage, clothes with traces of blood, a plastic bag with several pieces of meat and a cell phone were seized, the SEF said.
The meat was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for analysis to determine if it was human meat. The judicial police were also involved in the investigation.
Begolea was taken to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon “for clinical evaluation” due to an injury to his right hand. According to the SEF, he should be discharged before the end of today.

According to the Facebook page, Begolean Fernandez was born in Matipo, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The man claims to love music and history, and also plays guitar and guitar. He says he is “a crazy genius, 2% genius and 98% crazy” and “has a sense of humour”.
