Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned this Friday that new Western military supplies “will only serve” to prolong the conflict in Ukraine, reacting to a meeting in Washington between Joe Biden and Olaf Scholz.
“We note that the United States continues its policy of increasing the supply of weapons to Ukraine, persuading its proteges to do the same,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Dmitry Peskov answered questions about the meeting in the US capital between President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
This delivery “will not have a decisive impact on the issues of the offensive (in Ukraine), but it is clear that it will drag out the conflict with sad consequences for the Ukrainian people,” Peskov added.
Arms support “puts a serious strain on the economies of these countries and has a negative impact on the well-being of citizens, especially in Germany,” the Russian president’s spokesman added.
Joe Biden met with the German chancellor in Washington this Friday, also displaying a “message of unity.”
According to a spokesman for the German chancellor, the meeting in Washington was aimed at “building consensus on the development of the conflict in Ukraine,” as well as support that Kyiv’s allies can accept.
Western countries are already providing military support to Kyiv in the face of a new Russian offensive launched last February.
