A man suspected of breaking the glass of a bank door is now charged with new crimes after he stole a CD of video footage of the incident while viewing a file at Lisbon’s Ministry of Public Administration.
The man, whose age and profession were not disclosed, was charged on Monday with “damaging or subtracting a document and technical designation,” according to a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office (MP).
A man has been prosecuted in a Lisbon Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DIAP) case and charged with a misdemeanor offense for punching and kicking twice on the glass of a bank branch door, breaking it.
Later, as a defendant in this case, he approached the DIAP in Lisbon and asked to see the file.
“Having received the physical file for the aforementioned consultation, the defendant tore open the envelope and removed a CD containing CCTV images in evidence of the aforementioned investigation, in which he could see him kicking the glass door. QD, the defendant left the DIAP premises without returning pictures,” the deputy reports on this case.
According to the deputy, “by acting in this way, the defendant intended to prevent the viewing of such images in order to avoid criminal liability for his actions,” for which he is now accused of the crimes specified in the part of the DIAP investigation in Lisbon.
