According to information released yesterday by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE), Portugal recorded an average increase in residential electricity prices of 5.5% in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2021. The same source added that the country ranks 13th out of the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) with the highest price of residential electricity and 10th with the cheapest natural gas.
During the period under review, the average price of electricity in the residential sector in the 27 EU countries was 0.2595 euros per kilowatt-hour (EUR/kWh), and in the Eurozone – 0.2695 euros/kWh, which is 12% and 16% higher. more expensive, respectively, than the value adopted in Portugal (€0.2320/kWh). “In Spain, electricity prices were 38% higher than in Portugal,” the regulator said.
As for natural gas, the average price in the domestic sector in 27 was set at 0.1080 euros / kWh, which is 13% more expensive than the price in force here (0.0958 euros / kWh), and in the Eurozone it was 20% higher (€0.1148/kWh). In Spain, according to ERSE, natural gas prices are 17% higher than in Portugal.
