The water supply, which was conditioned in the municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos due to a broken pipeline, was restored today around 5:00 am, the company Águas do Douro e Paiva said.
In a statement sent to the Lusa agency, Águas do Douro e Paiva says that the repair work due to the rupture of the main pipeline that supplies the municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos has been completed.
The company clarifies that the work was completed in the early morning, and the supply was restored around 05:00 on March 11.
“It should be remembered that this gap was due to damage caused by an external organization not associated with Águas do Douro e Paiva, which was carrying out work near the pipeline in Pedrusus district, [no concelho da] Maya,” the text says.
On Friday, also in a statement, the Chamber of Porto announced the disruption of the main water supply that serves the northern part of Porto, including areas such as Ramalde, Aldoar, Prelada, Boavista, Amial and Paranhos.
Restrictions may reach the municipalities of Maia and Matosinhos (Porto district).
The municipality promised that traffic would be restored by 20:00 today.
The municipal company Águas e Energia do Porto warns of the possible appearance of “some natural cloudiness in the water in the taps” after the restoration of supply.
