A 22-year-old man appeared in court in Porto for the attempted murder of another man, whom he fired two shots at, leaving the victim incapacitated, prosecution witnesses said on Tuesday.
Witnesses, friends and family of the victim, as well as representatives of the PSP and Judicial Police (PJ) were heard at a hearing held this morning in the San João Novo Court, at which the defendant did not make any statements. in the case described the current state of the 30-year-old man as “depressed, sad and aimless”.
The events took place in the Francos district of Porto and date back to 6 February 2022, Sunday, the date when “in the midst of a discussion” between the father of the accused, who is in custody, and another man, the defendant “pulled his gun” and fired two shots that hit the victim, “who had nothing to do with it.”
According to the indictment, a source connected to the investigation told Lusa that “the defendant’s father and the victim’s ex-son-in-law were arguing over a poorly told story involving drug money, the son intervened, he was kicked, a gun was pulled, and ended up hitting the wrong the one who kicked him, but into another man.”
The defendant was arrested “a few weeks after” the events in the Leiria region, where he “had to go because his girlfriend, who in the meantime had given birth to his son [do arguido] lived there,” the source said.

In court, the victim’s sister described her brother as a “fun, athletic, active boy” before he was hit: “Now he’s 30, he’ll probably never walk again, he won’t be able to be a father and he’s out all day. either in a wheelchair or lying down, addicted to everything, in diapers, with no life project,” he said.
