Children in Guinea-Bissau banned from begging from Monday

Guinea-Bissau’s Minister for Women, Family and Social Solidarity, Conceição Evora, announced that a presidential order to end child begging in the country will take effect next Monday.

The Minister gave these instructions in statements to journalists after a meeting organized by the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Interior Minister Soares Sambu, with several Quran scholars (Quran teachers) and imams (Islamic religious leaders).

The purpose of the meeting was to convey instructions given by Guinean President Oumaro Sissoko Embalo last Wednesday in the east of the country when he called on the interior minister to arrest the father or Quran teacher of any child caught begging. on the streets of the country.
