The President of the Republic said today that the government’s forced leasing of vacant houses would “benefit from a rethink”, expressing his hope that the PS and the SDP will come to an agreement on housing issues.
Speaking to RTP outside Lisbon Airport, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa clarified what he meant when in the newsroom morning Post Television (CMTV) referred to as “bills” proclaiming principles that should not be followed.
When asked about the “poster laws,” the head of state replied: “I have been saying the same thing about forced leasing for a week now, there are still many discussions in parliament, whether the benefits of the announced will be rethought, because the councils have already said that they will not help, they have there are no funds to help find vacant houses, and then the system is very bureaucratic and cumbersome.”
