The lawyer and civil servant in charge of the Human Resources Department of the now-defunct Porto Metropolitan Transportation Authority is accused of aggravated document forgery, skilled fraud, computer forgery and feigning a crime. According to the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Regional DIAP Porto, she falsified the category and level of wages, as a result of which, between July 2015 and November 2017, she managed to receive improper remuneration in the amount of 11,895 euros.
According to the Attorney General of the District of Porto, the crimes were committed when the Porto Metropolitan Transport Authority, in which the accused held a prominent position, was liquidated. “He devised a ruse to continue his civil service career at a salary above what he would have been entitled to by transferring to another service, presenting in the new service documents falsely showing that he was in the category and the salary level is higher than the real one,” the Prosecutor General’s Office points out.
“To this end, he drew up an employment contract with a higher wage rate than the current one and other documents, and also distorted, through his access to a computer system, the amounts contained in his pay stubs, adding them all to his personal file ‘, he adds. Thereafter, the defendant submitted an individual case with false documents to INFARMED for the purposes of internal mobility, receiving higher wages than she was entitled to.
Given the facts, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against him. The defendant then filed an application to open criminal proceedings in connection with the alleged false documents, which, as the prosecutor’s office now indicates, were prepared by herself “with the aim of misleading the evidentiary activity and exposing a crime about which she knew that it did not take place.”
Meanwhile, the defendant has already returned 8,305.85 euros, so the prosecutor’s office is now demanding compensation in favor of the state in the amount of 3,588.75 euros, which has not yet been returned. He also requests that he be sentenced to the additional penalties of a ban on the performance of functions and a suspension of the performance of functions.
