The Italian coast guard rescues 32 migrants stranded on the island. There is a child in the group

On Monday, the Italian Coast Guard rescued 32 migrants, including a child stranded off the island of Lampione in Italy. As far as Reuters was able to find out, it became impossible for the operators to carry out rescue work from the sea, so they had to resort to the help of a helicopter.

According to the Italian agency ASA, migrants arrive from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali. They were taken by plane to Lampedusa, a typical landing site.

The Italian authorities recalled the latest tragedies in the Mediterranean involving migrants, in most cases they suspected human trafficking.

Last Monday, a ship carrying about 500 people was intercepted in international waters off the coast of Libya.

In February, more than 90 people, also migrants, died in a shipwreck off the coast of southern Calabria.
