Four PSD MPs and three PS MPs are leaving for Taiwan this Thursday at the invitation of the Taipei government.
A journey that comes at a particularly difficult time due to Beijing’s hegemonic claim to this island, whose independence is not recognized by the Chinese government.
The Portuguese MPs who have agreed to go to Taipei are Paulo Ríos de Oliveira, Helga Correia, Joao Moura and Carlos Reis for the PSD and Joao Fernando Castro, Norberto Patiño and Vera Braz for the PS.
ABOUT cm you know that the deputies were authorized by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, but they were on an individual basis and not on behalf of the parliamentary groups.
Moreover, the leaders of the parliament themselves were taken by surprise, as they were not informed in advance about the trip of the deputies. This trip was also not reported to the transparency body as it was supposed to be sponsored by the Taiwanese government.
