The Jewish community of Porto is demanding a public apology from Lucilia Gago, Attorney General of the Republic, and from Luis Neves, National Director of the Judicial Police.
In a letter sent to both, he “reiterates the falsity of the allegations” made following the Operation Open Doors searches to grant Portuguese citizenship under Sephardic law to Russian millionaire Roman Abramovich.
The letter cites parts of the search warrants as saying “breaking into the synagogue is authorized”. [do Porto] like a brothel.”
Rabbi Daniel Litvak was detained by the SP and was released from the court.
Already on March 15, the Jewish community sent a letter to Marcelo Rebel de Souza, in which they called on “the state to apologize for the harm and damage caused.”
