On Thursday, the PSP seized more than 62,000 doses of drugs in an operation in the Pastelleira Nova and Pastelleira Velha districts of Porto, during which 15 people, nine men and six women, were detained, security forces said Friday.
The PSP statement says that during the operation, during which 44 searches were carried out in residential and non-residential premises, 62,000 doses of drugs (11 kg of heroin, cocaine, hashish and amphetamines) were seized.
During the operation to combat drug trafficking, more than 13 thousand euros, firearms, cars and motorcycles were also seized.
The detainees will appear this Friday before the judicial authorities for the application of coercive measures.
On Thursday morning, PSP national director Manuel Magina da Silva told reporters in the Pastelleira Nova area of Porto that, in addition to this location, the searches also extended to Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia, Gondomar and Maia, in the Porto area.
He stressed that the operation, which involved more than 300 PSP officers, is the result of an investigation that lasted for about two years.
The national director of the PSP also said that he thought it was a “network of a certain size” with elements with different responsibilities.
