A man in his 50s died Tuesday evening after being caught by a train in the Porto metro, near Pedra Rubras station, in Moreira da Maya.
The victim, who lived in the airport area, sustained injuries that are considered very serious, and his heart and breathing stopped. The man could not bear the severity of his injuries, death was pronounced on the spot.
At around 10:00 pm, Moreira da Maya firefighters received a warning about a train run over. The ambulance and resuscitation medical vehicle team of the São João hospital was also involved.
The GNR has been mobilized and is investigating the circumstances under which the train was hit. Traffic on the red line between Porto and Povoa de Varzim has already been restored after being regulated between this station and Verdes station.
