The minister of the presidency said this Thursday that “with full naturalness and interest” the government will soon, at 20:00, follow the statement of the President of the Republic to the country.
“With complete naturalness and interest, we will follow the speech of the President of the Republic,” said Mariana Vieira da Silva at a press conference after the Council of Ministers meeting, which took place today in Braga.
The President of the Republic will address the country today at 20:00, two days after he expressed his opposition to the Prime Minister’s decision to keep Joao Galamba as Minister of Infrastructure.
The head of state will deliver a speech at 20:00 at the Belém Palace in Lisbon, a source in the presidential administration told Lusa.
On Tuesday evening, after António Costa announced the decision to keep João Galamba as minister, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa published a note in which he stated that he “disagrees with his position regarding the political interpretation of the facts and the resulting perception of them by part of Portuguese in regard to the prestige of the institutions that govern them.”
The head of state stressed that “it is impossible to justify a member of the government without a proposal from the prime minister.”
