The European Commission projects an unemployment rate in Portugal of 6.5% this year and 6.3% in 2024, the economic forecasts of the community executive were released this Monday spring.
The community executive’s projections are compared to those of the Portuguese government, which, in the Stability Program presented in April, points to an unemployment rate of 6.7% in 2023 and 6.4% in 2024.
Brussels rates Portugal’s unemployment rate below the Eurozone average, for which it predicts 6.8% in 2023 and 6.7% in 2024, but slightly above the European Union (EU) average, for which it points to 6 .2% in 2023 and 6.1% in 2024.
