So, it’s big, stupid and bloody. So the whole guess is this: wouldn’t it be fun if Santa had to save the day from some action movie villains on Christmas Eve (like this guy wasn’t busy enough that night)?
but stormy night matters for typical holiday fare, and for those of us who want a little spice in our Christmas party punch, here’s a rare film of Saint Nick wielding a bloody sledgehammer he calls the “Skull Crusher.” For example, I can come on board.
David Harbor (from weird things Fame plays a grizzled, drunken Santa who is fed up with unbelieving kids and rampant consumerism. When he meets a family in need on Christmas Eve, it’s time for him to intervene: The Livingstones are a wealthy couple with a safe full of cash who are fighting a gang of thieves in a home invasion.
John Leguizamo is the masterful and obnoxious mastermind behind the heist, his vaguely sleazy aura being used solely as a Christmas-hater in this installment, though he’s a better actor than this rather simple material would suggest. But the Harbor is a real highlight to use Alone at home– like booby traps with really bloody results, ingenious use of Christmas tree decorations and of course brandishing a sledgehammer, all to save Christmas from the innocent seven year old Trudy (sweet Leah Brady) who was on his “beautiful” list.
Overall, it’s fun, goofy, cut-and-paste, with some inventively spicy fight scenes (choreographer Jonathan Yusobio also worked on that scene). John Wick cinema.) and stormy night puts himself into comic mode without hesitation: he continues to ridicule himself. What else can a film do about figure skating and candy injuries?
As it turns out, this little genre vehicle of delicious chaos and intricate Christmas thrills has a special charm to it. Watch it with the audience and you will probably hear cries of joy and happiness, though not for the reasons you would normally expect from a holiday movie. It’s not that Miracles on 34th Streetbut it’s a popcorn movie with a cult classic in it.
