Where was Saltburn filmed? In a real house in Northamptonshire

Where was Saltburn filmed?

Burning salt was filmed at the private English estate of Drayton House in Northamptonshire.

Although some additional scenes were filmed in Oxford, director Emerald Fennell wanted the film to be shot primarily in one location.

To talk to Vanity FairShe said: “It was important to me that we were all in this together and that making the film somehow created the feeling of summer when everyone is going crazy together. “I didn’t want to constantly clean and move around. “

It was also the first time a movie was filmed on the property and it paid off. Production designer Susie Davis has great creative freedom to tailor Dayton House to the needs of actors and audiences.

“It had to be something that hadn’t been used before. [estate] he was not even photographed, much less filmed. We always wanted this to be a real place.”

History of Saltburn Estate

Drayton House has a rich and fascinating history dating back several centuries.

Although the house’s location dates back to 1066, it was built in 1300 and then underwent several renovations, including in 1700, when the house was given its distinctive Baroque façade.

Over the years the estate changed hands and passed on to English noble families such as the Mordaunts, Germains and most recently the Sackvilles.

Under her leadership, the house was extensively renovated and there is a mix of architectural styles throughout the house. Burning salt today, including large areas of the park where many of the party scenes were filmed.

The park, known as Drayton Park, now covers approximately 200 hectares and traditionally hosts private tennis tournaments.

This historic monumental country house is not open to the public. As part of the agreement to film here, the 127-room private home will remain private for the foreseeable future.
