PS rejects PSD’s request to remove Pedro Marquez and Pedro Nuno Santos from the Economics Commission

This Wednesday, the PS denied the PSD’s request to drop the hearings of Pedro Nuno Santos and Pedro Marquez in the Economic Commission to avoid duplicating the hearings of these former rulers with dates already scheduled in the TAP Commission of Inquiry.

This PSD request was voted and defeated this morning in the Economy, Public Works, Planning and Housing Committee, Lusa was told by parliamentary sources by parliamentary sources, with PS voting no, PSD and Chega in favour, and the rest of the parties absent.

Thus, Pedro Marquez will be heard in the commission on the economy on May 30, and subsequently in the commission of inquiry of the TAR.

Pedro Nuno Santos, on the other hand, is scheduled to have a hearing before the economic commission on May 31 – the same day as the second hearing in the case of Pedro Marquez – and returns to parliament two weeks later for a parliamentary inquiry.

On Tuesday, the PSD coordinator in the TAP parliamentary commission of inquiry, Paulo Moniz, announced his intention to drop the hearings of former ministers Pedro Nuno Santos and Pedro Marquez in the parliamentary commission on economics to avoid duplication of hearings.

Considering the schedule that had been decided that day by the table and coordinators before the end of the TAP inquiry panel, Paulo Moniz explained that “because of the coincidence” that some of these people were already scheduled, the PSD put it under consideration. other parliamentary groups in the commission from the economy to “their willingness to do without.”

The request, which the Lusa agency had access to, addressed to the president of the commission on the economy and which was rejected, accurately explains that at the headquarters of the same commission “a set of hearings of personalities related to the situation in which in the TAR.”

Recalling that the SDP also filed a request for the hearing of certain personalities, the Social Democrats explain that “there is clearly a duplication between those and those that are already planned and taking place in the commission of inquiry.”

“In order to avoid this unnecessary and undesirable situation, the PSD parliamentary group withdraws from the hearings of the former Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Pedro Marques and the former Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Pedro Nuno Santos, provided that the opposition of any of the parliamentary groups with a seat in this commission,” reads in the same document.
