The singer presented the album “Busca” at the Atlantic Music Expo.
Zul Alves was born and raised in Praia, Cape Verde. He is twenty-five years old, and two years ago he decided to take up music as a profession. Since then, he began to work on his personality as an artist. Today there is a record on the market. It’s called “Search”. “I decided to give the album this name because “Busca” (search, search) is a process that happens in everyone’s life. For an artist it is more intense because we are looking for our musical identity. The first album was all about finding my musicality and building my path in the world of music,” says Zul Alves.
His path led to the introduction of “Busca” at the latest Atlantic Music Expo (AME) held last April in Cape Verde. The album is a fusion of traditional music and new musical directions. “I am a young woman. I listen to both traditional music and new rhythms that we have now”, an album that has several styles such as Morna, Mazurca, Cola São João, Batuque. “The songs that make up my album are written by Orlando Pantera, Paulino Vieira, Zeze di Nya Reinalda and other popular songs. I chose them because they were already part of my repertoire when I was making animations in bars and restaurants. These are songs that were part of my childhood. Since childhood, I have listened to these performers and these songs,” the singer explains.
The first music video “Bida N’Gostadu” is dedicated to the theme of Orlando Pantera. “It was love at first sight. When I heard it, I fell in love with the music. It was written by one of the composers that I admire the most. It shows all the emotions that I experience while singing. All the expression of my body and my spirit. when interpreting this song,” explains Zul, who hopes to get into some international shows with this AME presentation.
