On June 26, 2016, Andre left for work, not knowing what would happen in a few moments. Today, he lived with his girlfriend, attended courses in electromechanics at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, and worked for a large company.
But… everything has changed. After a 5-month hospitalization at the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine in Alcoitao, André was forced to move with his mother and sister to a rented house in the municipality of Sintra, where he received support around the house.
“(…) After a year of such an injury, it is almost impossible to return to school. A lot of help is needed in this process. In this case, it was Fidelidade with a WeCare office. They gave me all the support to be able to do it again.”
WeCare is a comprehensive life recovery support service for people affected by serious accidents at work, with its own office in Fidelidade. Accompanying the injured party is carried out on an individual basis as a result of the work of multidisciplinary teams with psychologists and social workers who have the technical skills to deal with major accidents.
As for resuming an active life, Fidelidade helped make it possible. Andre returned to the university. He has successfully resumed his studies and is about to finish his course in electromechanics.
