Six killed in attack on oil and gas base in Pakistan

Local authorities announced that six security guards at an oil and gas field in Pakistan were killed on Tuesday morning by dozens of gunmen.

According to France-Press, citing the head of the local police, Asif Bahadur, about 50 militants attacked a facility belonging to the Hungarian energy group MOL in the Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (northwest).

“They were armed with heavy and light weapons and fired mortars, killing six guards at the main entrance,” Bahadur said.

According to the local police chief, four of the dead belonged to the Border Police, a paramilitary police force, and two were private security guards hired by the company.

“The shooting went on for more than an hour. The police forced the militants to flee,” he added, attributing the attack to the main Pakistani Taliban group, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which did not claim responsibility for the attack. .
