Pre-trial detention for Brazilian who raped three younger brothers and fled to Portugal

A 38-year-old Brazilian man who raped his three younger brothers in Brazil and fled to Portugal, where he was hiding, was held in pre-trial detention. Igor Vasconcelos was detained by the Foreigners and Frontiers Service (SEF) in Algés, Oeiras state, after several years on the run.

The crimes date back to 2007. The pedophile was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison for aggravated sexual abuse of three brothers, a ten-year-old boy and two three-year-old twins. The man is even suspected of sexual abuse of children.

Igor has been in Portugal for four years now. He led a modest life in order not to be discovered. On Wednesday, during the arrest, he was in a panic. He asked not to extradite him, as he believed that he would be killed if he returned to Brazil.

The man will await trial in a Lisbon prison.
