Lisbon PSD Council Chairman Luis Newton asked this Sunday to be a defendant in the Tutti Frutti case, criticizing the Public Ministry (MP) for never hearing from or questioning him since the investigation began in 2016.
“If I am being investigated, I have the right to know why, I have the right to be heard and clear up any allegations, just as I have the right to defend myself if and when I see fit. (…) And that is why today I demanded that he be appointed as an argument so that he can intervene in the process,” Luis Newton said in a statement directed to Luce, in response to reports from TVI/CNN Portugal this week. on the basis of an investigation by a deputy and the judicial police.
The investigation denounced the alleged exchange of favors between PS and PSD in preparing lists for the 2017 municipal elections to ensure the preservation of some Lisbon parishes, citing wiretapping and emails that also involve the current finance and environment ministers.
