Taxi driver charged with 5 murders begins trial today for not sharing property with ‘ex’

This Monday, the Viseu court held the trial of José Carlos Guerra, a 63-year-old taxi driver who on February 16 last year shot and killed five people: three firefighters, a GNR and a popular man after taking over an old locksmith shop. and set on fire in the Vale de Madeiros, Nelas.

On this day, a bailiff was supposed to arrive at the facility to assess the property, which would subsequently be put up for sale. However, the man, who was facing a divorce, refused to share the property with his ex-wife. He hid in the basement and, armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, shot everyone.

He is charged with 12 crimes. Five for murder, four for aggravated coercion, one for arson, explosions and other especially dangerous acts, possession of a prohibited weapon, and resistance and coercion to an employee.
