The PSD president met on Tuesday with the local accommodation association in Lisbon and assured that if the party returned to government, the measures taken by António Costa’s executive would be reversed.
“Our position is to try to prevent the government from taking this step to stifle, let alone eliminate, this sector, which is so important in economic activity and in tourism. We reaffirm with the association the commitment that if this outcome cannot be avoided, our promise is very firm and direct. We, in the future SDP government, will cancel the measures that the socialist party proposes for local adaptation,” said Luis Montenegro.
Asked about alternatives, the PSD leader said the solution is for “the sector to continue to fulfill its role of providing accommodation for tourists in a regulated manner to stimulate the economy and create jobs.”
The journalists also turned to Luis Montenegro with questions, which the PSD President will send to António Coste, about the role of the Security Information Service in the debate with Joao Galamba’s deputy. “The answers are on the side of the government and the prime minister,” he said. “It is not enough for the prime minister to say that it was legal. The prime minister should explain how he came to that conclusion,” he defended.
