This Friday, Chega asked for an extension of the deadline for the parliamentary commission of inquiry on TAP by another three months, intending to hear infrastructure minister João Galamba and his chief of staff, Eugenia Correia, again.
“We understand that the deadline that has been set for the closure does not match the steps that need to be taken. We have decided to apply for an extension of work. Three more months need to be spent on CPI,” said Andre Ventura. .
“The likelihood that Joao Galamba lied to this parliamentary commission is high,” the Chega leader added.
“We had a chief of staff who said that it was his initiative. [chamar o SIS], then in Joao Galamba’s reply he said that there was an initiative from the prime minister’s office and now the prime minister says he hasn’t talked to anyone. At least one person lied here,” admitted Andre Ventura.
André Ventura ensured that the two proposals are intended to “avoid a secret commission of inquiry” and that he “gives the government one last chance”.
The party leader also acknowledged that it is not yet known what information the mobile phone of Frederico Pinheiro, the former deputy of Joao Galamba, contains, which was handed over to the commission of inquiry.
On May 19, the plenum of the Assembly of the Republic already approved the extension of the work of the parliamentary commission for the investigation of the TAR for 60 days in order to be able to “hold all the necessary and agreed hearings.”
The original date envisaged for completion was 23 May, but following the approval of this extension, it has now been extended to the end of July, with voting on the final report scheduled for 13 July.
When asked about the survey published cm Andre Ventura cites that Cheg’s party still has an “overwhelming majority”.
