Mario Centeno says the government’s PSD/CDS transition portfolio did not include TAP.

Former Finance Minister Mario Centeno said on Monday that the transition portfolio he received from his predecessor in 2015 does not mention TAP as he recently learned about the so-called Airbus funds.

“There was no transitional portfolio in the TAP dimension, no “pens”, no dossier, there was no reference to TAP in the transitional portfolio of the Minister of Finance of the 20th government. [Maria Luís Albuquerque] for the finance minister of the 21st government,” the former PS government minister and current governor of Banco de Portugal told the airline’s commission of inquiry on Monday.

Mario Centeno answered questions from Deputy BE Pedro Filipe Soares about the knowledge he gained when he took over the financial portfolio in 2015, about letters of competence to banking institutions that enabled the PSD/CDS-PP government-led privatization. Pedro Passos Coelho, and how to capitalize the company through a deal between former shareholder David Nieleman and an aircraft manufacturer called Airbus Funds.
