Hepatitis A, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough vaccines are among the 101 medicines banned from export as of today, according to an Infarmed information circular.
National Medicines and Health Products Administration (Infarmed) Information Circular Updates Medicines Temporarily Suspended from Exporting to a List that Covers All Critical Medicines that were Out of Stock in May and Medicines that Come with Exclusive Use Authorization .
The list, which comes into force today, includes 101 drugs from various categories and active substances, including drugs for the treatment of diabetes, antibacterial, antipsychotic, antipyretic, anxiolytics, sedatives, hypnotics, adsorbed pneumococcal polyoside conjugate vaccine.
According to Infarmed, this ban is intended to ensure supply to the national market after a gap has occurred and applies to all participants in the chain, including manufacturers.
It emphasizes that “this ban applies to drugs on the list, and not to drugs manufactured for export.”
Infarmed is part of the European network of points of contact for competent national authorities, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Commission, which has been used since April 2019 to share information about supply disruptions and problems with the availability of authorized medicines in the European Union.
