The Secretary General of the PKP asked this Thursday to “quickly clarify” who “missed the truth” in the case of the intervention of the Security Information Service (SIS) in the recovery of the computer of the former Assistant Minister of Infrastructure, Joao Galamba.
Paulo Raimundo, who spoke to reporters on the sidelines of his visit this Thursday to the National Agricultural Fair, which runs until Sunday in Santarém, said there are “things that are poorly clarified” in the process.
“Someone, I was going to lie, come on, someone was telling a lie, and this is something that needs to be clarified. I am not able to say that it was A, B or C. That there was someone, there was. So let it be cleared up quickly,” he said.
For a communist leader, the country must focus on what is “fundamental,” that is, on “responding to the problems of the people, to the farmers, to their needs, because the bet on the farmers is the bet on the country, on its production.” .
“That’s what the country needs. And these not indifferent tricks, not trifles that can be solved quickly, because no one benefits from this. Or rather, farmers, each of us, no one benefits from this, those who participate in tricks, maybe they have other benefits, but that’s another problem,” he added.
Paulo Raimundo emphasized that for the PKP, more than for the people holding the seats, “the main issue is the political choice”, so that the departure of Joao Galamba from the government is useless if the goal of privatization, namely the TAR, if it holds.
“If this minister leaves and another, stronger, less fragile, but whose goal in this particular case is to privatize TAP, comes in, what good will that do us? Name B, etc.,” he said, referring to the fact that former minister Pedro Nuno Santos had confirmed in Parliament this week his desire to “take part in the privatization of TAP.”
“The minister moved with great fuss, [mas] background option remains the same. The problem we are facing is that if this minister changes, it will cost very little if the political option remains the same,” he stressed.
Also in the case of agriculture, Paulo Raimundo said that the change of minister would not change the “fundamental issue” of policy options for the sector.
“This is what is wrong, and it needs to be changed, and there are conditions for this,” he said, emphasizing that each person has “his own characteristics, his own way of life.”
For the communist leader, the problem is that the government’s support for farmers is “far from what is possible and necessary.”
“All you have to do is see this fair to see the huge potential that exists. We have a country with productive potential, with farmers and a desire to produce more, and a country that needs to be occupied from a territorial point of view, because, well, in particular, small and medium farmers also play a decisive role here, in production, in wealth creation. and seizing territory,” he added.
The PKP Secretary General advocated support for production and farmers, in particular small and medium-sized ones, “who are always the most squeezed”, in particular, excluded from the sector’s support set.
Paulo Raimundo cited as examples that the political rate does not accompany the efforts of the sector, an 11% decline in farmers’ incomes and a 50% increase in the trade deficit in 2022.
