According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the municipality of Tavira in the Faro region this Sunday poses a very high risk of fire in the countryside.
According to information published on the IPMA website, the municipality of Sant Bras de Alportel in the district of Faro is in a high-risk area.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has also placed 33 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Beja, Setúbal, Évora and Leiria under moderate rural fire risk.
The fire risk defined by IPMA has five levels: from minimum to maximum.
Calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the past 24 hours.
IPMA forecasts for this Sunday indicate periods of very cloudy skies with some cloud cover in the southern region.
Showers are expected in the northern and central regions, especially in the afternoon inland, where they may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
The wind will be light, blowing temporarily moderate (20-30 km/h) from the western quadrant in the afternoon, especially in the Central and South regions.
Fog or fog is also expected in the morning and a slight decrease in minimum temperature, especially along the coast of the Northern and Central regions, and a slight increase in maximum temperature in the interior of the Southern region.
Maximum temperatures will range from 18 degrees Celsius in Guarda to 27 degrees in Evora and Aveiro.
