The President of the Liberal Initiative (IL), Rui Rocha, said this Sunday in Pombal that the Prime Minister’s insistence on keeping Infrastructure Minister João Galamba in government is “completely unfounded and incomprehensible.”

“I think that this trait of stubbornness and perseverance is clearly present. I have often spoken about these various branches, about the government itself, which no longer brings anything positive for the country. But it is obvious, for example, that the persistence in the Minister, like Joao Galamba, is completely unreasonable and incomprehensible,” Rui Rocha said after meeting with the president of the Volunteer Firefighters of Pombal in the district of Leiria.

The IL leader reiterated that João Galamba “has already submitted his resignation, so writing the letter is not a big deal.”

“I know that Joao Galamba did not have, for example, a TAP restructuring plan on his computer, but he will have a letter that he wrote. So just take it, sign it again and send it to the prime minister. nothing that takes a lot of time, of course. It won’t be on Frederico Pineiro’s computer [ex-adjunto de Galamba]will be on Joao Galamba’s computer,” he stressed.

Rui Rocha added that this would be a way for the Minister of Infrastructure “to solve his own problem and the problem that the Prime Minister has created for Joao Galamba himself, because he uses him as an instrument of pressure and a challenge to the President.” Republic, that’s right, but it’s frankly unbearable for the Portuguese.”

The President of the Republic denied this Saturday, at the end of the day, that he was referring to a “specific case” when, in his speech on the occasion of Portugal Day, he said that it was necessary to “cut dead branches”, adding that it was “a message for the future” .

Rui Rocha said that he could also clarify his statements on Saturday, after the speech of the head of state: “In fact, I meant specific branches, and specific branches are several ministers of this government, including Joao Galamba, but not only” .

“We have a withered Government tree, with branches that are already very degraded, and therefore I assume and repeat what I said: there are indeed many branches that harm the country. What we really need is a new tree to give another hope. and another trust in the Portuguese, which this government is clearly no longer able to do,” he insisted.
