Striker Rafael Leão said Tuesday that the arrival of Roberto Martinez as Portugal coach has given the players more freedom and admitted he feels more trust in the Spanish coach.
“I have to thank Fernando Santos (former coach). It is thanks to him that I am here. With Roberto Martinez, I think the players feel they have more freedom to express their game. The coach talks to me a lot and gives me confidence. ” said Rafael Leao.
The AC Milan striker spoke to reporters at a press conference at the Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, minutes before the first training session in preparation for Saturday’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
